International Movement ATD Fourth World

A delegation of ATD Fourth World with UN General Secretary M. Kofi Annan, 2005 ATD Fourth World Ireland is a member of the International Movement ATD Fourth World, a non-governmental organisation founded in France in 1957 by Joseph Wresinski (1917-1988).

In 30 countries around the world, the International Movement ATD Fourth World develops educational, cultural and community projects with families.

ATD programs in Madagascar It works affiliated organisations in more than 100 other countries and has over 100,000 members worldwide. 400 full-time volunteers working on continents are engaged long term in supporting anti-poverty programs run by the organisation.


The organisation is committed to representing people living in poverty at a national and  international level. It has general consultative status with UNICEF, UNESCO, ECOSOC, the International Labour Organization and the Council of Europe and has a permanent delegation at the European Union.
